TETON VILLAGE, Wyo. (Dec. 3, 2003) In an event that will benefit a cause close to the hearts of local skiers and snowboarders, Teton Mountain Lodge & Spa will host an aprs-ski party on Sunday, Dec. 14, from 2-6 p.m. at its newly renovated and enlarged bar, located just off the slopes at Jackson Hole Mountain Resort.
The party, which is a fundraiser for the Bridger-Teton National Forest Avalanche Center, will be centered on things that skiers and boarders enjoy cheap beer, deals on appetizers, a chance to win outdoor gear, ski lift tickets, dining and lodging, and an excuse to celebrate one of the better ski-season openings in recent memory. Proceeds from the raffle and beer sales will benefit the avalanche center.
Teton Mountain Lodge & Spa, which opened in October 2002, renovated and expanded its bar area in Cascade Grill House & Spirits this fall after skiers and snowboarders filled the bar to capacity at the end of many ski days last winter. The bar, which features a relaxed setting adorned by locally shot ski photography, added both tables and less formal areas with couches and lounge chairs. The bar is easily found by hanging a hard skiers right after crossing the bridge over the road to the Jackson Hole Kids Ranch (its at the edge of the upper parking lot, next door to Pepi Steigler Sports).
"We wanted to find a fun way to involve a local crowd in our official re-opening of the bar, and what better way than an aprs-ski party that benefits an operation so crucial to skiers as the avalanche forecast lab," said Rob DesLauriers, the developer of Teton Mountain Lodge & Spa and an avid resort and backcountry skier himself.
Between web site hits and phone calls, the resources provided by the Bridger-Teton Avalanche Center are accessed more than a quarter million times each winter.
Jeff Ward, the Lodges general manager, added: "Ever since opening our doors last December, weve continued to emphasize our support for the local community and its amazing culture. This is a great opportunity to give something back and let it be known that we wouldnt be where we are today without the local support."
The Teton Mountain Lodge & Spa event will feature $2 Snake River Brewing Company lagers as well as specials on Cascade Grill House appetizers. Partygoers can purchase $1 raffle tickets for a chance to win Cloudveil outdoor apparel, Indigo Equipment ski poles, lift tickets from the Jackson Hole Mountain Resort, three-course dinners at the Lodges Cascade Grill House, overnight accommodations at Teton Mountain Lodge & Spa, and a bunch of other outdoor gear (ticketholders must be present to win). Representatives from the avalanche center will be on hand to discuss their work.
Teton Mountain Lodge & Spa is one of Teton Villages newest properties, and Jackson Holes only dedicated condo-hotel. The Lodge blends the convenience and value of a condominium development with the services and amenities of a high-end hotel all located slopeside at the Jackson Hole Mountain Resort. The Lodges mix of 80 condominium units break into 129 hotel suites and rooms, and the property contains amenities such as a fitness center, indoor and outdoor pools and hot tubs, meeting and event space, spa treatments, and a full-service restaurant and bar Cascade Grill House & Spirits serving New Western cuisine breakfast, lunch and dinner.
