TETON VILLAGE, Wyo. (July 19, 2005) - This winter, skiers and snowboarders at Jackson Hole’s Teton Mountain Lodge & Spa will have access to some of the best ski and snowboard apparel on the market, after the property recently winterized its Gear Closet program. The Gear Closet, which was initiated in summer 2005, is no-cost gear loaner program for guests that features products from some of the most innovative companies in the outdoor industry.
With Teton Mountain Lodge & Spa’s location at the base of Jackson Hole Mountain Resort, and less than a mile from Grand Teton National Park, the Gear Closet was created for guests who either forgot an important piece of outdoor equipment for their trip or for guests who don’t own all of the proper gear for a mountain-country vacation. If guests find they need a piece of gear for skiing, snowboarding, hiking or other outdoor pursuits during their stay, they can call the front desk and borrow it.
For winter, Teton Mountain Lodge & Spa has added men’s and women’s Cloudveil Koven waterproof-breathable ski and snowboard pants, Coudveil RPK3 gloves, and Ryders Eyewear Vapor and Ignite goggles. The Lodge already offers Indigo Equipment Rox 18 day packs and men’s and women’s Cloudveil Drizzle waterproof breathable jackets, both of which work well for winter or summer use. In addition, the Gear Closet offers Brunton Echo Binoculars for guests who may want to wildlife watch in winter.
Guests who want to borrow an item from the Gear Closet can simply call the front desk to inquire about its availability and check out the item for the length of time they need. Guests are informed about the free program through information in each room, and they also can make reservations in advance of a visit to Teton Mountain Lodge & Spa.
“With 2,500 acres of ski and snowboard terrain right out the front door, the staff at Teton Mountain Lodge & Spa knows what a difference good gear can make in your daily ski or snowboarding experience, and certainly we’ve all forgotten our gloves, jacket or some other piece of critical gear on a ski trip. That’s why we wanted to create this program – to make sure our guests, whether they forgot something or don’t own it in the first place, have access to the appropriate outdoor gear,” said Rob DesLauriers, the managing partner of Teton Mountain Lodge & Spa and a well-known skier who also leads ski camps.
Because Jackson Hole is a place known for its wide variety of outdoor activities, Teton Mountain Lodge & Spa was able to attract top-name outdoor companies to participate in the program. That was made easier by the fact that three of those companies, Cloudveil, Indigo Equipment and Brunton, are based in Jackson or the western Wyoming region. Ryders Eyewear is based out of Vancouver, British Columbia.
