TETON VILLAGE, Wyo. (September 27, 2005) - Teton Mountain Lodge & Spa,located slopeside in Jackson Hole, hired Thomas J. Walker as its director of sales and marketing, effective immediately. The hire brings more than 12 years of sales and marketing experience to the Lodge’s top sales post, along with a love of skiing, hiking and all things outdoors to one of the country’s great outdoor meccas.

“Tom’s sales and marketing track record at industry names like Wyndham and Marriott shows he knows exactly the kind of customer service and can-do attitude it takes to keep occupancy and group business on an upward trend,” Teton Mountain Lodge & Spa General Manager Jeff Sargent said. “As a bonus, we always like to welcome an avid skier and outdoorsperson to the staff, because we know they’ll feel right at home in a place like Jackson Hole.”

Most recently, Walker worked as director of sales at the Wyndham Hotel - Colorado Springs, where he managed a team of 13 people for the 300-plus room hotel and oversaw year-over-year revenue growth while in that role. In addition, Walker developed and enacted the hotel’s annual marketing plan. He earned the property’s Manager of the Year award in 2002, a peer-nominated distinction, and was recognized as a member of Wyndham’s Achiever Circle in 2004.

From 1998 to 2000, Walker served as national corporate sales manager at the Wyndham Hotel - Salt Lake City. There he oversaw existing and new corporate group business. Before that, he worked in a variety of sales manager positions for Marriott and Holiday Inn properties in both Florida and Pennsylvania, and he also worked as director of catering, coordinating between the sales team and the food and beverage team, at Holiday Inn in King of Prussia, Penn. Those positions spanned 1992 to 1998. Walker holds Bachelor of Arts degree from West Virginia University.

“One of the highlights of Tom’s career is that he has a lot of experience working with many different aspects of sales, from corporate groups to the association, social, sports and military sides of the business,” Sargent said. “From an internal perspective, he has experience managing revenue, working in catering and overseeing marketing. So the breadth of his experience from many different sides of the hospitality business is something that made us zero in on him as the right candidate.”

Walker said along with the challenge of continuing to grow business at the three-year-old Lodge, the outdoor offerings in Jackson Hole are part of what attracted him and his wife Sarah to the area.
