Teton Mountain Lodge & Spa hires industry veteran to lead hospitality team in Jackson Hole

TETON VILLAGE, Wyo. (Feb. 5, 2007) -Bringing more than two decades of hospitality industry experience to its top post, Jackson Hole's Teton Mountain Lodge & Spa hired Steve Santomo as general manager of the slopeside property, effective immediately. Santomo comes from Colorado, where for the last eight years he held general manager positions at The Great Divide Lodge in Breckenridge, the Denver Airport Marriott, and the Holiday Inn Frisco Resort in Frisco.

In his most recent GM role at the Great Divide Lodge, Santomo oversaw operations for the 208-room upscale slope-side Vail Resorts hotel and managed two extensive renovations to the property. During his tenure, occupancy increased more than 25 percent, and both food and beverage revenue and hotel profitability nearly doubled. While there, Santomo was selected as a motivational speaker for the regional Society of Government Meeting Planners and the Great Divide Lodge also won the regional SGMP Company of the Year Award.

While working as general manager at the Denver Airport Marriott and the Holiday Inn Frisco Resort, Santomo and his staff earned four separate awards for customer satisfaction, employee satisfaction and revenue growth. They included the Outstanding Workplace, Outstanding Workforce Award, given by Marriott for training and motivational programs Santomo put into place to empower employees, and the Mustang Award, a Marriott special achievement award given for outstanding customer service during the blizzard of 2003 in Denver.

Prior to working as a general manager during the last eight years, Santomo held posts as resident manager at the Mayfair House Hotel in Miami, Florida, and as assistant general manager and food and beverage manager at several hotels operated by Winegardner & Hammons Hotel Management Company.

Santomo holds a BS from the Boston University School of Hospitality Administration. He also has a four-generation family heritage in hospitality and worked in the family business from a very young age. His family developed, owned and operated the Sheraton Station Square in Pittsburgh, Penn., the Sheraton Inn Pittsburgh North and the Holiday Inn Greentree.
