Area's newest spa features state-of-the-art facilities, water-inspired treatments, local artwork incorporated in spa design.
TETON VILLAGE, Wyo. (July 31, 2007) – Employing state-of-the-art spa techniques, indigenous elements and locally inspired design, Teton Mountain Lodge & Spa on July 20 opened its new $7 million, three-story, 16,000-square-foot spa and fitness center. Solitude Spa strives to reflect the peaceful, rejuvenating feel of its wild surroundings, creating an extraordinary spa experience amidst one of the world’s unique mountain settings.
Located at the gateway to Grand Teton National Park, Teton Mountain Lodge & Spa is continually inspired by the powerful presence of the soaring Teton peaks and the alpine lakes that shimmer like hidden gems between them. Thus, the new spa was named Solitude Spa after Lake Solitude, one of the most spectacular of the Teton lakes. Every aspect of the spa, from the design and architecture to its signature treatments, reflect Lake Solitude’s natural purity, restorative power and soothing beauty. Each of the 10 treatment rooms are also named after alpine lakes found in Grand Teton National Park.
Design Elements
Solitude Spa is centered by three complementary, dynamic design elements: First, a wall water feature created from glass mosaic tile in various earth-tone shades and framed by copper-colored Murizican stone, with water cascading down the face, is visible when entering the spa. This shimmering fountain begins in the lobby and cascades down to the next floor adjacent to an open staircase, leading the way to the treatment rooms. The staircase wraps around a striking iron sculpture by local artist Ben Roth, who employs two-story-long vertical strips of metal and subtle shaping to create a series of circles carved into the vertical lines. The effect suggests lakes, water and stillness. The focal point of the Solitude Spa lobby is a rounded reception desk fronted by more glass mosaic tiles and a round, metallic-blue wall sculpture. The Tranquility Lounge, between the changing rooms and treatment rooms, allows guests to reflect and center themselves prior to and following their treatments. The collective effect is to reflect the spa’s stunning, vibrant natural environment and create an atmosphere that is both peaceful and inspiring.
Spa Treatments
Solitude Spa combines the latest spa therapies with alpine and water-inspired rituals for treatments that are tailored to the guest’s specific needs and desires. For instance, the selection of massages and body work therapies, with names such as Harmony and Inspire, uses techniques, organic oils and aromatherapies developed for those looking for a specific approach to their individual goals. Solitude Spa has an extensive menu of Waterfall Bath and Body Rituals which rely upon the restorative and healing properties of water to deliver maximum stress relief and therapeutic results. Treatments such as the Skin Indulgence Glacier Body Wrap include a foot bath ritual with its body scrub, mud body masque and massage, and incorporate vichy showers into the experience. Another, the Green Coffee & Pomegranite Body Trio, employs the anti-oxidant benefits of coffee and omega-enriched pomegranate into a three-level treatment with a body polish, a body wrap and a warm-oil massage. The new spa menu also incorporates offerings that promote equilibrium through energy work, such as the Eastern Influences treatment, a unique combination of Thai massage, Shiatsu, Reflexology and Reiki designed by the Solitude Spa staff. Solitude’s menu also includes unique elements such as one-on-one Soul Readings with local intuitive Carol Mann.
Solitude Amenities
Solitude Spa's offerings also include a rooftop Yoga/Motion studio for yoga, pilates and other activities. The studio also has the only yoga room in Jackson Hole designed to heat to 108 degrees for hot or Bikram-style yoga. Just outside, the spa offers another offering unique in the area, a large rooftop deck with expansive views of the ski area, Teton Range and the Jackson Hole valley, along with an outdoor 24-person hot tub. Other elements of the new spa include two couples’ treatment rooms with fireplaces, in-room Jacuzzis and balconies, a wet treatment room with a vichy shower, manicure and pedicure facilities, indoor and outdoor pools, five separate hot tubs, steam rooms and Jacuzzis in each locker room, and a significantly expanded fitness room with state-of-the-art cardio machines and weight-training options. In addition, Teton Mountain Lodge & Spa added 17 new rooms and suites, increasing its overall capacity to 145 guest rooms.
