While New Year’s Eve is known for late-night revelry (and next-day headaches), Teton Village boasts a calendar of events that are perfect for families looking to celebrate 2013 and ring in the New Year together. Here are two family-friendly annual traditions for families celebrating New Year’s Eve at the Teton Mountain Lodge…
December 31st 4:50 pm Glow Worm Kids’ Ski Parade, Kid’s Ranch
The glow worm parade has become a tradition every NYE in Teton Village, young skiers and kids have a blast every year swapping torchlights for glowsticks during this sunset ski parade. What’s required? Children have to be under age 14 and able to ski Teewinot confidently to participate in this annual tradition. (Younger kids will do a shorter parade via snowmobile before older kids ski from the top of Teewinot.) The parade is FREE and you don’t need to sign up in advance. Meet at the Kid’s Ranch at 4:50 pm dressed and ready to head up – no poles please. Bring your parents along to watch the parade at 5:30 pm, and stay for the torchlight parade and fireworks show that follows.
6:00 pm New Year’s Eve Torchlight Parade and Fireworks
After the kids kick things off with the glow stick parade it’s the JH staff’s turn to ring in the New Year on the snow and put on a show for guests in Teton Village! The annual Torchlight Parade and Fireworks gets underway at 6 pm when JH staff slide down Apres-Vous and put on the traditional Torchlight Parade. Then, the sky will light up with a phenomenal fireworks display over Teton Village.
